Mr. Adelaja Joseph Abereoran obtained his First School Leaving Certificate in the Merit Category from St. Jude’s Primary School, Ebute-Meta, Lagos. He attended University of Ilorin, Ilorin (1980-1984) obtaining a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree (Second Class Upper Division). He also obtained Masters degrees in Public Administration (MPA) and Industrial and Labour Relations (MILR) in 1991 and 2002 respectively. He is a professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM). Mr. Abereoran has attended several training and development programmes locally and in Africa, Asia and Europe on Leadership, Human Resources Management and Health Systems. He is an Alumnus of the Galilee International Management Institute (GIMI), Tel-Aviv, Israel.
Mr. Abereoran’s work experience cut across the private and public sectors of the Nigerian economy. He was an Assistant to Professor Eyitayo Lambo, Hon. Minister of Health (2003-2007) during whose tenure the Formal Sector Programme of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) was launched. His work experience in the NHIS spanned Headquarters, Zonal and State level operations. He worked extensively in the Human Resources Department and as pioneer State and Zonal Coordinator of the FCT and North Central B Offices. He also served as Zonal Coordinator of the South West Zonal Office in Ibadan, Oyo State. He has served at various times in the Special Services Division under the Office of the Executive Secretary/CEO with responsibilities for Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU), SERVICOM and International Collaboration. Current schedule covers ACTU and SERVICOM activities.
In the course of his career, Mr. Abereoran has participated at high level meetings and consultations on health insurance, social protection, work place safety, social determinants of health and Universal Health Coverage (UHC) under the auspices of the World Health Organization (WHO), International Social Security Association (ISSA) and the Joint Learning Network (JLN). He co-authored a book, Shaped by Destiny (1996) with Prof. Yemi Akinwumi, former president of the Historical Society of Nigeria and current Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) Nasarawa State University, Keffi. He also has academic publication in Heritage of Reforms, (2002), edited by B.Y Mohammad and Chidi Amuta. Mr. Abereoran is married with children. He has special interests in Organizational diagnosis and Industrial Relations. His hobbies include Reading and Travelling
