Born in Kaduna, Nigeria, Dr. Yakubu Adole Agada-Amade, attended Emmanuel Secondary School Ugbokolo and School of Basic Studies, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria for his ordinary and advanced level certificates respectively. During his ordinary level studies, he won his school awards for his class and mathematics.

Dr. Agada-Amade holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree (M.B.B.Ch.) from University of Calabar, Master of Health Planning and Management degree from University of Maiduguri, a certificate in improving quality of healthcare from Harvard School of Public Health, Harvard University, Boston MA, USA, diploma from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (DLSHTM) and Master of Science (Public Health) from University of London. He is currently studying for a PhD in health systems, policy and economics in University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus. He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) and a fellow, Royal Society for Public Health.

He has attended several courses, among which are Health Economics, Results Based Financing (World Bank Group) and Rudiments of Consulting (FITC). He has some published academic works to his name.
