Olufemi A. Akingbade is the current Zonal coordinator of the Lagos Zone of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Prior to this he was Acting Executive Secretary / Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Scheme from April 2015 to July 2016. He was employed into the NHIS in March 2013 as General Manager, Information and Communications Technology of National Health Insurance Scheme Abuja, Nigeria, after working for over twenty-two (22) years in the financial industry.

He has over twenty-seven (27) years of experience in Information and Communication Technology in both the private and public sector. He started his working career as a programmer/instructor with MicroBoss International Limited. He joined the banking industry in 1993 as a Programmer/System Administrator with Access Bank Plc and later as Head, Information Technology department of Afribank International Limited (Merchant Bankers) in 1998. Post consolidation in 2005, he moved to Afribank Nigeria Plc as Head of Banking Systems Support from where he joined Associated Discount House Limited as Head, Information Technology department in September 2006. He rose to become Group Head, Operations, Information Technology and E-Solutions before he left in February 2013. He joined the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in March 2013 as General Manager, ICT, until April 2015 when he was appointed as the Acting Executive Secretary / CEO of NHIS, a position he held till July 2016. He is currently the Zonal Coordinator for the Lagos Zone of NHIS. 

He is a professional fellow of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) and Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN). He is also a member of Society for Quality Healthcare in Nigeria (SQHN). He has attended various courses both locally and internationally.
